Ferroscan

Ferroscan uses electromagnetic pulse induction to detect steel reinforcement and measure concrete cover depth with plus or minus 1mm accuracy. It can estimate bar diameter from the electromagnetic response characteristics.

Cover depth is critical for durability assessment. It determines the time for chloride or carbonation to reach reinforcement and initiate corrosion. Ferroscan provides the precise cover data needed for durability modelling.

Effective for cover depths up to 80mm and bar diameters from 6mm to 36mm. For deeper reinforcement, GPR is the preferred technology. The two are commonly used together.
